Moles, Skin Tags & Xanthelasma Removal
Using carbon dioxide laser resurfacing, we are able to remove benign skin growths such as moles, skin tags and xanthelasma quickly, hygienically, effectively and with minimal scarring.
The laser heats up the tissues and vaporises them leaving you with a small area of ‘scabbing’ which will be completely healed within one week. No stitches or dressings are required afterwards.
What is xanthelasma?
Xanthelasma is a skin condition manifesting through yellowish plaques deposits around the eyelids. They are not necessarily an indicator of high levels of cholesterol in the blood, but can be of a cosmetic concern to those affected. The causes of xanthelasma can be genetic, side-effects of long-term medical treatments or, in most cases, dyslipidemia.
How is xanthelasma treated?
CO2 laser therapy is the non-surgical, minimally invasive and cosmetically satisfactory procedure. It is recommended due to the low degree of invasiveness and minimal scarring involved, given the high sensitivity of the eyelid areas. Moreover, using an anesthetic cream before the CO2 xanthelasma laser removal, you will be able to enjoy a comfortable treatment with no pain involved. The action of the CO2 laser in xanthelasma removal is that it solely acts upon the cholesterol plaque, destroying the cells from within and causing no damage to the adjacent tissues. Thus, it leaves minimal to no scarring whatsoever, but this also depends on the patient’s type of skin and its ability to fully regenerate.
